Anvil Cottage

North Yorkshire

View on Google Maps

Anvil Cottage is a 17th-century stone building in Hawsker, originally part of a blacksmith's workshop. It sits between Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay—close enough to reach either on foot or by a short drive. The Hare & Hounds is practically on the doorstep, and a regular bus service connects the village to larger towns along the coast and inland.

The cottage has one bedroom upstairs with two single beds, plus a double sofa bed downstairs in the open-plan living space. There is one bathroom with a shower. The kitchen is equipped to cook from scratch, and essentials like heating, electricity, wi-fi and towels are covered. One well-behaved dog can stay. There is private parking and access to a shared garden with seating; note that the grounds contain an unfenced pond. No smoking inside.

The North York Moors and the Yorkshire coast are the draw here. Walkers and cyclists will find numerous routes nearby, including a disused railway line converted to a cycle trail that runs between Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay—a hire centre is only 300 yards away. The beaches at Whitby, Sandsend and Robin Hood's Bay are all within reach for a day out.
