Thirsk is a market town with genuine character. Its cobbled square is surrounded by period buildings, independent shops and traditional pubs, many dating from the 18th century or earlier. The town sits at the edge of the Hambleton Hills, making it a natural base for walking or cycling into the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. Bakery Cottage sits within easy reach of the centre, a former bakery from the 1870s that retains its period appeal.
The cottage is yours alone, with one bedroom containing a double bed and an ensuite bathroom with bath, shower and heated towel rail. Downstairs is an open-plan living space with a kitchen equipped for proper cooking: electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge. There is a sitting-out area with garden furniture and parking for one car. One well-behaved pet stays free. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included. The property is non-smoking. Be aware there is an unfenced river 50 yards from the cottage, and the cottage is not suitable for children under 10.
A pub is within a mile's walk, and Bengal Kitchen is among the nearby dining options. The coast is an hour away; York is 30 minutes.
