Lavender Cottage is a two-bedroom property that greets you with an open-plan ground floor: a living space with a gas fire and freeview TV flows into a dining and kitchen area where you can prepare meals using an electric oven and hob. One bedroom with two single beds and its own shower room is on this level, making it convenient for those with mobility considerations. Upstairs, a second bedroom contains a double bed with its own bathroom featuring a bath and shower; a further bathroom serves the upper floor.

The cottage sits within a cluster of holiday homes on the edge of the North York Moors, three miles from Scarborough's beaches. You have the whole property to yourselves, with a lawned and enclosed garden to the rear offering a patio and furniture, plus access to a shared barbecue. The front gardens face open countryside and the sea. Bed linen, towels and wifi are provided. One well-behaved pet is welcome.

Scalby village—with its café, restaurant, shops and pubs—is a 15-minute walk away. From here you can reach Langdale Forest, the Forge Valley Woodland Reserve, or join the Cleveland Way on foot. Scarborough's attractions including Sea Life Centre and Theatre in the Round are nearby, as are golf courses, riding stables and fishing at Throxenby Mere. The owners provide a guide to local food and driving routes to help you plan your time.

The lovely peaceful setting provides our family, which includes one person with Altzheimers Disease and one teenager with Aspergers Syndrome, with the opportunity to spend a holiday together in harmony. Useful buses link to Scarborough and Whitby enabling us accomodate individual interests and needs.
