Baysdale Abbey - Ingleby Barn
North Yorkshire

Ingleby Barn sits on the grounds of a former 12th-century Cistercian abbey, now a working farm deep in the North Yorkshire Moors. The location opens onto endless footpaths radiating into the surrounding countryside, and the coast with its three miles of sandy beach lies within reach for a day trip. A working farm means sheep and cattle graze the 2-acre grounds—children need supervision around machinery, and any dog must stay on a lead.
The barn offers two bedrooms (one kingsize, one with twin singles) and two bathrooms, all on the ground floor. A living room with woodburner and TV, plus a kitchen with electric cooker and full-size fridge, give you the basics to self-cater properly. Essentials like electricity, linen, towels and wifi are included, and the woodburner logs cost nothing. You get a courtyard with seating and private parking for four cars.
The wider site has a laundry room, bike store and shared moorland grounds to explore. One dog stays free. No smoking indoors.

What a lovely place to stay for the week. The house is more than we expected and the pictures don't do this lovely house any justice. Nothing near by, in the middle of nowhere is what we wanted. It didn't take long to get on the main roads but the journey leading up to them the scenery was amazing. The views and walks around the house were lovely. We loved watching the sheep, chickens, rabbits, sheep dogs at work and the house martins feeding their chicks. We loved the size of the house for 15 of us and a dog. So much space, loads of bathrooms, comfy beds, table to sit all, massive fridge, wood for the fire, benches to sit outside, bbq, washing machine in the shared laundry room and dryer. Very handy having two dishwashers in the kitchen. Ali was very welcoming when we arrived and popped in to see how our holiday was going. We loved hearing the history of the house from her. A great base to visit Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, York, York outlet, Falling Foss and Aysgarve Falls. We will be back! Thank you Ali for taking such great care of us
