Warren Farmhouse
North Yorkshire
North Yorkshire Moors country means working land, open horizons and the kind of quiet that takes getting used to. Warren Farmhouse sits on the Kildale Estate, far enough from towns to feel properly remote, though snow occasionally cuts the house off between December and February. The 1780s farmhouse has been refurbished as a family home while keeping its original character—beamed ceilings, log fires, an Aga in the kitchen—but offers the comfort of five bedrooms and five bathrooms across three floors.
Ground floor holds the kitchen and dining area (electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, two freezers), a sitting room with woodburner, utility with washing machine and tumble dryer, and a wet room. Upstairs, Bedroom 1 is a super king with ensuite bath; Bedroom 2 a king with ensuite; Bedroom 3 has two single beds and shares a bathroom. The second floor has another king bedroom with ensuite, two singles and a child's single in the fifth bedroom, plus a family bathroom. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; the initial wood and fuel for fires come with it too. An enclosed garden has sitting areas, furniture and a barbecue. One dog stays free; it must be kept on a lead. The house is entirely yours—no shared spaces.
The moors, footpaths and bridleways start at the gate. Kildale's train station connects to Whitby on the Esk Valley line. The surrounding fields and moorland draw lapwing, curlew and red grouse. This suits groups wanting to walk, watch birds, mark occasions together, or simply disappear into countryside.
