Otley sits at the edge of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where moorland, woodland and reservoirs make the landscape compelling for walkers and cyclists. Buryemwick occupies that threshold—an 18th-century stone cottage that's been rewired and replumbed for modern living while keeping its period bones. It sits with views across Swinsty Reservoir and the valley beyond, and the grounds include a private hot tub, patio, decking and barbecue space.
The house has four bedrooms and four en-suite bathrooms spread across two floors. Downstairs are a sitting room, kitchen with dining area (both with French doors to the garden), a games room with billiards and dartboard, and a utility room. Upstairs are three further bedrooms; two have zip-and-link beds that can be split into singles. Throughout, smart TVs, heating, wifi and other essentials are built in. You get a welcome pack and initial logs for the woodburner. Private parking fits five cars; there's also secure bike storage and a wash-down area for dogs.
The Washburn Valley is walking country, with paths looping around the reservoirs and onto the moors. Otley town centre, restaurants and cafés are nearby. One well-behaved dog stays free; smoking is not permitted indoors.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Buryemwick this weekend and couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate my wife’s cousin’s 30th birthday. The cottage itself is beautiful, genuinely picturesque, full of character, and finished to a really high standard. Everything was spotless on arrival and very well equipped; it honestly felt like the hosts had thought of everything. The facilities were excellent and made it easy for a group to relax, socialise and properly enjoy the weekend without feeling cramped at all. The location is perfect, peaceful and scenic, yet still really easy to get into town when we wanted to head out. It struck a great balance between countryside calm and convenience. The host (Kate) was brilliant from start to finish: friendly, welcoming, and very responsive, which made the whole stay completely stress-free. Overall, Buryemwick was the ideal setting for a special weekend. We made some great memories here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it, we’d love to return in the future.

Nestled in a picturesque location, this cottage is truly a slice of heaven. The interior is a perfect blend of charm and modern comfort, with every detail thoughtfully curated to create a warm, inviting space. The stunning views are simply breathtaking, offering a serene backdrop for a perfect getaway. We spent our days gathered around the crackling log burner playing games, chatting and making cherished memories as a family of seven adults and two little ones. The atmosphere was nothing short of magical, and the spacious yet cozy layout made it easy for everyone to feel right at home. The cottage had absolutely everything we needed. Kate, the host, deserves special mention—her warmth, friendliness, and sense of humor added an extra layer of joy to our stay. Her attention to detail and genuine care for her guests made the experience unforgettable. We loved it so much that we are coming back next year. The cottage is a true gem and everyone loved every second of their stay, even when using the hot tub in December! Thank you, Kate. We will be talking about our wonderful stay for years to come.
