Walking through the door of Dockyard Retreat, you step straight into the kitchen, with the sitting room and dining area flowing naturally from there. Downstairs holds a twin bedroom and a bathroom, plus a separate WC. Upstairs is a double bedroom with its own en-suite. The layout suits a family of four or two couples well, with enough separation for privacy and enough togetherness for shared meals and evenings in.
You have the whole place to yourselves, with parking for one car on site. Bed linen, towels and wifi are provided; electricity is included in your stay. The cottage is Grade II listed and positioned to overlook Spital Beck, giving it character and a sense of place. A short walk takes you along the harbourside into York's centre, where shops and attractions cluster around the water. The coastal setting means sea days are easily within reach, while quieter countryside is on your doorstep. No smoking inside.

Wild pool was great, cold and refreshing! Two choices for sauna, with different temperatures. Steam room is lovely! Jacuzzi is okay, only one button and times out fast Lots of outdoor showers and places to hang robes and towels. Massages are fantastic!!!! Only 2 showers so had to wait for 15 minutes. ghd straighteners and good hairdryers, comfortable robes and soft towels. Able to scan QR code to order food to your seat. The staff were not super friendly, the waitress who brought me my drink laughed at me for my order? and the coffee was not great. could maybe work on this:) The food was okay. I have been to spas in Vietnam where you are able to use the gym and stay for much longer, and there has been an indoor swimming pool. So if you’re someone who likes a spa day but want to get a lot more for your money’s worth, save your wallet for when you’re travelling abroad!

Me and my friend had a gorgeous day at the spa for my birthday. Our treatments were so lovely and the whole day was just a vibe. Staff are so friendly and attentive and the spa is just stunning. My only feedback would be my sandwhich was a bit plain and would have been much tastier on fresh home made bread as the chicken marinated / seasoning. This would match the rest of the high quality spa. I shall deffo return! See you again YSR.

We recently spent Monday to Friday at the Yorkshire Spa Retreat, and it was exceptional from start to finish. The lodges themselves were absolutely lovely and spotlessly clean. The entire site is beautifully kept with immaculate landscaping and an array of gorgeous wildflowers that make just walking around the grounds a pleasure. We also enjoyed a spa day on-site, and the facilities were fantastic. When we weren't relaxing there, we ate at the restaurant, which has so much character, a warm atmosphere, great customer service, and serves genuinely high-quality food. What makes this place feel truly unique, though, is the incredible attention to detail in the smaller things. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a lovely welcome pack. Walking into our lodge, we also found robes, slippers, and even flip-flops already awaiting us on our beds. We also loved the speedy delivery service that brings food straight from the restaurant right to your lodge door. It’s these thoughtful touches that set Yorkshire Spa Retreat apart. We had a wonderfully relaxing week and can’t recommend it highly enough!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Exceptional Luxury Spa Retreat – We'll Definitely Be Back! Our stay at Yorkshire Spa Retreat exceeded every expectation. The Damson Lodge was beautifully designed, spacious, and equipped with everything needed for a luxury getaway, from the hot tub and outdoor kitchen to the stylish living spaces and thoughtful welcome pack. The spa facilities were exceptional, with a fantastic hydrotherapy pool, thermal experiences, wild swim pond, and wonderfully relaxing treatments. The newly opened gym and fitness centre are also first-class, featuring the latest equipment and excellent facilities. The Dome restaurant served outstanding food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the surrounding area offered lovely cycling routes to Helmsley and The Star Inn. What truly made the experience special was the incredible staff, who were friendly, professional, and went above and beyond throughout our stay. A genuine 5-star experience from start to finish. We can't wait to return and would highly recommend Yorkshire Spa Retreat to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing break.
