Gallivantin Cottage suits couples and small families wanting a proper base in the Dales rather than a overnight stop. The stone-built cottage has two bedrooms—one with a double bed and ensuite shower, the other with two singles and an ensuite with roll-top bath—sleeping four in total. Both bedrooms are on the first floor, accessed via stairs, and each has its own bathroom. Downstairs, the living room centres on a substantial inglenook fireplace, and there's a separate kitchen-dining room with a full cooker, microwave and washing machine for longer stays.

Outside, the owners have built a covered courtyard with seating and garden furniture on the side of the cottage. The essentials are covered: heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi. Initial logs for the fire come with the booking; more are available locally. Smoking is not permitted. On-road parking is available at the property.

Thornton Rust, the village, sits close enough to Aysgarth and Hawes for provisions and meals out, with pubs, a country store and a licensed garage within easy reach. Leyburn has a well-stocked delicatessen. The River Ure and surrounding woodland offer walks from the doorstep. Check-in is after 15:00 and checkout before 10:00.
