Tockwith sits in the Vale of York, surrounded by working farmland and quiet villages. Goose Beck Cottages – Phoenix occupies a converted barn within the grounds of a family-run vineyard, where vines are still establishing themselves across the property. The setting is genuinely rural, though Harrogate and York are both within reasonable driving distance for days out.
Phoenix is a single one-bedroom cottage, sleeping two. Everything happens on the first floor: an open-plan living area with kitchen, dining space and sitting room, plus a bedroom with a king-size bed and en-suite shower. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, with an electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and coffee machine. A utility room on the ground floor contains a washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside, a private courtyard with garden furniture faces across the vineyard – a genuine selling point on a warm evening. Heating, electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included in the rate. There is parking for one car on site, and an electric charging point if needed.
No smoking is permitted. This is the kind of place where you spend time slowly: breakfasts at your own pace, afternoons with a book on the patio, evenings watching the light change across the vineyard. The proximity to Harrogate's gardens and Turkish Baths, or York's Minster and museums, means you can venture out, but there is no pressure to do so.
