Greystones Cottage
North Yorkshire
Greystones Cottage suits couples or small families wanting a proper base for exploring the Pennines without the distraction of constant connectivity. The 18th-century conversion has a kingsize bed downstairs and a single upstairs, plus a sofa bed in the living room that doubles as flexible sleeping space. There's one bathroom with a bath and shower, and a kitchen with two ovens, a dishwasher and the essentials for proper cooking. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included.
The cottage sits in Simonstone, a hamlet surrounded by fell and woodland walks that start from the garden. Stags Fell and Shaw Gill Wood are immediately nearby. A pub is half a mile away, and Hawes—two miles off—has antique shops, craft workshops, restaurants and the Wensleydale Cheese Visitor Centre. You can park two cars on site. The cottage is no-smoking; there is no Wi-Fi, though nearby pubs have it available.
