The River Esk flows past this corner of North Yorkshire, drawing walkers and wildlife watchers to its banks. Hey Ho Cottage stands on a riverside development just outside Whitby, positioned between the water and the Cinder Track – a path that runs up to the town centre or south towards Robin Hood's Bay and beyond. The coastal air and countryside walking are what bring people here.
The cottage itself sleeps six across three bedrooms: a kingsize upstairs, and two twin rooms (one on each floor). There's a family shower room upstairs, and a separate toilet downstairs. The ground floor is open-plan, combining kitchen, dining and living spaces around a wood burner, with glass doors opening to a private patio. Essentials like bed linen, towels, heating and wi-fi are included. The kitchen has an electric oven, hob and microwave for self-catering. No smoking throughout.
Guests can use shared facilities within the development – an indoor heated pool (open 9am–6.30pm daily, except Saturdays from 3pm; from mid-February), a children's play area and barbecue spots among landscaped grounds. Two parking spaces come with the property. The setting suits families or groups wanting easy access to Whitby's abbey and harbour, or those planning walks along the Esk valley and down the coast.
