Hope Cottage sits on the quieter side of Whitby but is close enough to walk into the heart of the town. Built in 1840 as part of a former ropery, this three-storey property has kept some original character while adding modern comforts throughout. You get three bedrooms (two doubles and a single), one bathroom, and sleeping space for five people, with the whole place to yourselves. One dog can stay at no extra cost.
The ground floor has a kitchen with both gas and electric ovens, a dishwasher and microwave for everyday cooking, plus a separate utility room with washer-dryer. The living room spans the first floor with a smart TV and Blu-ray player. Upstairs are the bedrooms. Heating, hot water, electricity, wi-fi and bed linen are all covered. There is an enclosed garden with seating and a barbecue, plus parking for one car on site. No smoking indoors.
Whitby itself draws visitors for its Georgian streets, seafront and Gothic atmosphere. The North York Moors lie inland, with numerous walks and the steam railway at Goathland. The Yorkshire coast runs in both directions—Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes are close by, and boat trips head out from the harbour.
