Thirsk and Ripon are both a short drive away, with Ripon's cathedral and market square worth a trip, while Thirsk itself centres on its James Herriot connections and weekly market. The real draw for most visitors is proximity to serious walking country: the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks sit within easy reach, with the Cleveland Way and countless other trails threading through moorland and valleys. Harrogate's gardens and tea rooms are further afield but still accessible for a day out.
Raygill Shepherds Hut is a single-bedroom camping cabin sleeping two, set on private grounds with parking for two cars. The open-plan living space combines kitchen and seating, with a smart TV, electric oven, gas hob, microwave and coffee machine; the bedroom holds a kingsize bed. The shower room has a heated towel rail. Large glazing on the front frames views across rolling countryside, and there's a pond in the grounds that attracts wildlife. Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered, and a welcome pack comes with the booking. One well-behaved dog is welcome. The hut is non-smoking throughout.

What guests say
Absolutely delightful little hut in the middle of rolling farmland. Only the owners farmyard to see across the fields. Large pond with a plethora of bird and animal life. Adjacent private nature reserve with hide. Owners are gems. Nothing to difficult for them. All amenities available. Ripon about 10/15 minutes away, Thirsk a little further. Numerous supermarkets in Ripon including M&S, Sainsburys and Morrisons. If you want peace and quiet, then this is the place for you. Distant hum of A1(M) is in no way intrusive. Gets my 5 stars anytime. Take care on the lane in - rather potholed in places -adds a more rustic touch!!
