Rustic View is a stone cottage built to take advantage of its setting, with windows framing views across the Esk Valley towards the North York Moors National Park. The house itself centres on an open-plan living space with a log burner, where six people can spread out comfortably. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus parking on site and an enclosed garden with a barbecue, make it practical for a group or a family.
The kitchen is equipped to cook from scratch. Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are all covered. A cot is available, and one dog is welcome. The village has a pub and shops within easy reach; Whitby's coast is a short drive. Non-smoking only.

We've been regular guests at Surprise View cottages for seven years now. Each time the cottage has been immaculate and welcoming, the owners always friendly and helpful without intruding. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering, however there are several nearby pubs offering excellent food to tempt you away from home cooking. This is a working farm which adds to the interest. There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. All in all a superb base for a relaxing break.

We were reminiscing about a holiday we had many years ago and after Googling we found it. Surprise View cottage one of the best accommodations we have stayed in on our travels round Yorkshire. It was an upside house with bedrooms downstairs. It is close to KirbyMoorside and Hutton le Hole. We travelled all round Ryedale and it was lovely to go back to Surprise View Cottage We had a lovely Log Burner which we needed as it was wintertime. The cupboards in the kitchen held all the condiments you would need. The owners were very helpful. Everything was there that we needed. We ate at the Royal Oak Inn in Gillamoor. We had to stay an extra night as we were snowed in and next day we made our way very carefully over the moors through Hutton le Hole. It is one of our favourite cottage holidays and still talk about it after all these years
