The Well House
North Yorkshire
Families and groups of six will find The Well House works well for a stay in the Dales. The layout is unconventional—bedrooms occupy the ground floor, where a king, a double and bunk beds are split across three rooms with two bathrooms to share. Ground-floor windows frame the surrounding landscape, though the real outlook opens upstairs. The first floor is one open living space where the kitchen, dining and sitting areas all face out across Wharfedale, with a wood burner for cooler evenings.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and the other essentials covered. Electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included; heating oil and initial wood burner fuel are provided. A boot room by the entrance suits walkers and muddy paws alike. One dog can stay free of charge, though pets must remain on a lead in the enclosed garden—this is sheep country. Parking for two cars sits on the property, and there is secure bike storage for exploring by pedal.
The house stands in the heart of the Dales National Park, surrounded by limestone valleys and walking routes of all grades. A local history library in the hallway offers maps and guides. The garden has seating areas and is tiered, with steps connecting the different levels. No smoking is permitted indoors.
