Gargrave is a working village in the southern Yorkshire Dales, with a train station, shops, cafés and pubs within walking distance. The White Cottage stands on the Pennine Way itself, a converted 200-year-old building that was once a shop and tearoom before being refurbished in 2020. It sleeps four in two bedrooms—one with a double bed, the other a zip-and-link that converts between double and twin—and has a single bathroom with a walk-in shower and slipper bath.
The ground floor holds a living and dining space with a substantial woodburner, a well-equipped kitchen for proper cooking, and a separate toilet. Upstairs, the bedrooms sit either side of the bathroom, reached by a curved staircase with exposed stone. The cottage is yours alone for the duration of your stay, and one dog travels free. Outside, a courtyard with a butler sink is designed for the practical business of cleaning muddy boots, bikes and paws. Parking is on the road; the bike store is useful if you're tackling the Pennine Way itself.
The River Aire and Leeds-Liverpool Canal are five minutes' walk away. Malham Cove, Settle and Grassington are nearby for day trips; Skipton market town is four miles south. The village shop and restaurants are 175 yards from the door, and a pub is a quarter-mile away. Wi-Fi, electricity, heating, bed linen and towels are included; initial logs for the woodburner are provided. The property has narrow stairs and requires care on the first-floor landing.
