Carperby puts you within reach of some of the Dales' best walking. Aysgarth Falls is accessible on foot, and marked paths start from the doorstep. Hawes—home to the Wensleydale Creamery and Hardraw Falls—is a short drive, as are Malham Cove, White Scar Cave and Ribblehead Viaduct. The Wheatsheaf Inn sits a two-minute walk away for an evening meal without the car.
Timbessie Barn is a converted stone building with an unusual layout: bedrooms and bathrooms occupy the ground floor, while the kitchen and living space are upstairs, taking advantage of vaulted wooden beams and views across Wensleydale. You get two bedrooms (one kingsize, one with zip-and-link singles that can form a super-kingsize), three bathrooms, and the whole place to yourselves. The first-floor living area has a woodburner, TV and DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. One dog stays free, and there's an enclosed courtyard with patio and grassed garden. Essentials like heating, electricity, linen, towels and wifi are included, along with initial logs for the fire.
