Beside the Sea

Northumberland

Photo: Google Maps

Built in the early 20th century, Beside the Sea is a fully refurbished cottage standing just a handful of steps from the beach and promenade. The ground floor opens into a light living room facing the water, with a kitchen and dining area alongside. Upstairs, two bedrooms—one with a king bed, one with two singles—share a modern bathroom with shower and tub. The property sleeps four and is yours alone for the duration of your stay.

Essentials such as heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included, plus wifi for staying in touch. A bench at the front frames views of the bay; parking is on the road immediately outside. One well-behaved dog stays free. The beach itself is a short walk away, though dog restrictions apply from April to September on part of the shore—a map in the welcome book shows year-round dog-friendly stretches. Non-smokers only.

The long flat promenade connects the whole bay, passing an ice cream parlour, Maritime Centre café and further south, Cafe Needles Eye. Church Point at the bay's far end is known for wildlife watching. A pub lies within a mile. This suits couples, small families and dog owners looking for a straightforward seaside base in Northumberland.
