Dovecote House is a Victorian terraced property on the edge of Wooler, a small market town in Northumberland close to both the Scottish borders and the Northumbrian coast. The house spreads across three floors with three bedrooms and one bathroom, sleeping five people. Ground level has an open-plan living and dining space with a wood-burning stove, plus a kitchen equipped for self-catering; upstairs there's a second sitting room with views across the surrounding hills, and the bedrooms are on the first and second floors. The essentials are covered—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included, and logs for the stove come with the booking.

Wooler itself sits on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, putting significant hill-walking country within reach. The coast is roughly 20 minutes away by car, with the Farne Islands accessible by boat from Seahouses, Holy Island a short drive across the causeway, and Bamburgh's castle and beach further south. Alnwick Castle, Cheviots cycling, local golf four miles out, and various restaurants and pubs within walking distance round out what's on offer. No smoking indoors. Parking is on road outside the property.

Immaculate cottage, very clean and well stocked with all the thing needed for a short break. The owner is very friendly and helpful, and I get the impression prides them self on providing an excellent experience for her guest and she doesn't fail. I can't recommend the cottage highly enough, and with the added bonus of a small coop within 5 minutes walk. Plus Wooler is an excellent location to explore Northumberland from. The only minor niggle is the lack of private parking, but to be fair this was know off before booking and we had no issues finding on street parking nearby. Overall Highly recommended, one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in. Update. Second visit 2 years later and it's just as good if not better than our last visit.

We were really impressed with this house. So well equipped with everything you could need and wonderfully clean. Lots of lovely touches like lots of books and games for kids and milk, biscuits and wine on arrival. The house is a perfect location for close distance to hills, castles, beaches and made the perfect family holiday for us. Definitely recommend it and we hope to return.
