Harsondale Bothy is a restored stone building on a working farm in rural Northumberland, where an outdoor Victorian clay bathtub on the terrace offers views of the night sky. The property sleeps two and comes as a whole to yourself, with a small enclosed garden, parking for one car, and a bike store. One small dog is welcome, though it must be kept on a lead in this sheep country.
The layout combines old and new: downstairs is a single open-plan living space with a wood-burning stove, smart TV, and a kitchen equipped with electric oven, induction hob and coffee machine. A walk-in shower and heated towel rail are in the ground-floor bathroom. Upstairs, reached from one side only, the galleried bedroom has a king-size bed beneath low beams—expect to duck on the stairs. Air-source underfloor heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and superfast broadband are included; initial logs for the fire are provided, further supplies at extra cost. No smoking throughout.
Ancient woodland and rolling fields surround the property, with Hexham the nearest town. The terrace has garden furniture and sits four steps above the garden, which itself has four steps leading to the lawn.

What guests say
Quirky bothy in a beautiful location but be wary if you have a bad back or are tall! The bedroom is right up in the rafters and there's limited room as you can't stand upright at all but if you can manage it and don't mind cramped sleeping it does the job. It is a working farm but generally very peaceful so if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle then this is the place for you.
