Old Mill Holidays - The Granary

Alnwick sits within reach of Berwick, the Scottish Borders and the full sweep of Northumberland's coast and countryside. The Granary makes a solid base for exploring any of it, or simply dropping out of things for a few days. The property itself is an unusual layout—bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs, living spaces up—which means luggage handling is straightforward and the main rooms get light and air. One king bedroom with a walk-in shower, one bathroom, and upstairs a combined living, dining and kitchen space that opens onto a balcony.

The living area has a woodburner and a contemporary feel despite the wood. The kitchen is properly equipped for cooking: electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge-freezer all present. Electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are included, as is initial fuel for the burner. You get private parking for two cars and a bike store. The grounds include a patio with garden furniture, and you can arrange to trek the owners' alpacas around the property if you want an unconventional afternoon. Game fishing is available on-site. Dogs are welcome and doggy extras are provided. The property is non-smoking. There are 12 steps in the grounds.
