Rowan Cottage

Northumberland

View on Google Maps

Built as a shepherd's cottage and now restored, Rowan Cottage retains the character of its past while functioning as a comfortable holiday home on a working sheep farm in Northumberland. The property sits within the National Park, with views across Whitelee Fell National Nature Reserve. Three bedrooms—a double, two singles, and a single—share one bathroom with a bath and shower. Downstairs, the living room has a multi-fuel burner for winter warmth, and the kitchen/dining room is equipped for self-catering. A utility room contains a washing machine and tumble dryer. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included, as are the initial logs for the stove. One dog can stay free of charge.

An enclosed garden with seating overlooks the surrounding countryside. The cottage has its own parking and a 7kw electric vehicle charging point. Ground source heat pump heating and a natural spring water supply mean running costs are low. Four steps lead to the entrance. The area suits walkers and wildlife enthusiasts—live camera feeds from around the farm play on the cottage's television, showing barn owls, badgers and other animals. Otterburn and Jedburgh are both 15 minutes' drive for shops and services. The Roman Wall, Lindisfarne, Alnwick Castle and Kielder Forest are within reach for day trips. No smoking inside the property.
