Byrness House is a detached farmhouse dating from the 17th century, set within seven acres of private grounds on the outskirts of Byrness Village. The location sits on the Pennine Way at the edge of Northumberland National Park, five miles from the Scottish border. One of the region's defining features is its designation as a gold award Dark Sky Area—the property occupies the darkest patch, making it exceptional for stargazing and astronomy. The surrounding landscape attracts walkers, outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking genuine countryside quiet.

Five bedrooms and three bathrooms accommodate ten guests across a detached property you have entirely to yourselves. The ground floor contains a living room with Freeview TV and DVD player, a separate dining room, and a kitchen equipped for cooking from scratch, with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and range. Upstairs, bedrooms vary in configuration: one kingsize bed, two doubles, one kingsize with a single bed suitable for children, and two singles. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and electricity are included; central heating keeps the farmhouse warm. A travel cot and highchair are available. The large garden has sitting-out furniture and a bike store. One dog stays free of charge.

The nearest pub and restaurant are five miles away; a shop is ten miles distant. Keilder Observatory lies twelve miles off. Golfers will find a course at Bellingham, seventeen miles south. The owner can arrange dog sitting, provide Dark Sky information, or advise on local fly fishing. This is a location for groups—families, friends gathering for occasions—wanting space and a base for exploring high moorland and fell country.

We had a fantastic week at Byrness House. 3 generations celebrated my brothers 60th Birthday. It was a large, yet cosy house with room for all of us.

It's a very nice secluded area to stay at with the trans Pennine way close by and some routes around the place however it is a bit far to travel to certain places. Overall the accommodation was alright however it could use some more cutlery for the kitchen and the hosts were great and friendly.

Stayed twice now both times food brilliant and the shandy the barman made us was just what was needed to bring us both round after the long hot slog over the cheviots
