The Footman’s Cottage
Northumberland
Northumberland's countryside around Morpeth offers quiet walking country, National Trust estates, and access to the Heritage Coast, all within reach of villages with good pubs. The Footman's Cottage sits on the Shortflatt Estate among other holiday properties, with its own parking for two cars and a sitting area with garden furniture and gas barbecue.
The cottage has two bedrooms—a double and a kingsize—each with its own bathroom, sleeping four people. Original stone walls and exposed beams run through the property alongside contemporary comfort: a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washer-dryer, a living room with corner sofas and smart TV, and heating throughout. One dog is welcome here. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and electricity are included, along with a welcome pack.
The setting suits couples, friends or small families wanting countryside without isolation. Walkers find bridleways and footpaths nearby; Bolam Lake country park is close by for outdoor days. Belsay Hall, the Buddhist Monastery at Harnham, and coarse fishing at Higham Lakes Fishery are all nearby. Newcastle is within easy reach for evenings out. The property is non-smoking throughout.
