Families, groups of friends and couples all work well at The Grooms Cottage. The three bedrooms—one downstairs with zip and link beds that convert between a super kingsize and twin configuration, two upstairs—each have their own bathroom, which keeps everyone comfortable. The ground-floor layout means younger children or anyone with mobility concerns can sleep without tackling stairs, while a travel cot and highchair are on hand if needed.
The main living space combines a sitting room with a kitchen and dining area, properly equipped for self-catering: electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, and washer-dryer all work as standard. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included, along with complimentary toiletries and robes. Parking for two cars sits on the property itself, and the whole cottage is yours alone—no shared access or neighbours within the building.
This Grade I listed former grooms' house stands on the Shortflatt Estate in rural Northumberland. Bolam Lake, a country park with walks and open grassland, is nearby; so too are pubs in the villages of Belsay and Whalton. Walkers have bridleways and footpaths heading towards Harnham and the Buddhist Monastery. The market town of Morpeth lies a few miles away for shops and cafés, while the coast and Newcastle are both within reach for day trips. No smoking in the cottage.
