About The Victoria Hotel Bamburgh
The Victoria stands on the green in the middle of Bamburgh, with the castle rising behind it and the dunes a five-minute walk in the other direction. It is the largest place to stay in the village and has been taking guests since the 1890s, which shows in the proportions of the public rooms and the sweep of the staircase.
Around thirty bedrooms are spread across the main house and an adjoining wing, in categories from compact standard doubles to larger rooms and family rooms sleeping four. Several have castle or green views, and these carry a premium and sell first. Decor is traditional and comfortable rather than designed, and rooms in the older part of the building vary noticeably in size, so it is worth being specific when booking.
Eating happens in the brasserie and the more informal bar, both open to non-residents, with a menu that covers Northumbrian steaks, local crab and lobster in season, and reliable pub staples. Breakfast is a full cooked spread. There is a lounge with fires in winter and a terrace facing the green that fills quickly on a warm evening.
It suits families and multi-generational groups better than most places in the village, being one of the few with genuine family rooms and a kitchen that will feed children early. Walkers on the Northumberland Coast Path use it as an overnight stop, and it is a practical base for Holy Island, the Farne Islands boats at Seahouses and Dunstanburgh. Parking is limited and Bamburgh's public spaces fill by mid-morning in summer, so arriving early matters. Rooms typically start from about £125 with breakfast, rising sharply in July and August.

The hotel and staff made this break feel luxurious! Rooms are spotless and the beds comfortable. Great facilities and warm after a cold day out. The staff could not be more helpful and lovely. We felt well looked after. The food was scrumptious , especially the duck breast. The whole experience was great in every way.

A lovely hotel in a stunning location! We booked a 3 night stay, the staff were friendly and helpful. The reception and bar/restaurant area are beautifully decorated. The breakfast was lovely. Our room was sufficient for what we needed. Nice modern bathroom, great shower. The decor could do with a little tlc in some areas but nothing that impacted our stay. The location is superb, parking was great. My only preference would be a slightly softer mattress and pillows. We found the mattress particularly to be very firm. Whilst I appreciate you cant please everyone, I've generally found most hotels go for a middle of the road level of firmness. Both myself and my partner slept, but both had slightly achy backs in the morning. We would however absolutely return, I'd come back tomorrow if I could!

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and we had the best time! I think we were given an upgrade for the occasion, which we really appreciated! The room was lovely and quiet with a beautiful view of the fields outside of town. The bed was massive and so comfortable. The receptionist that checked us in was welcoming and friendly. The breakfast staff were attentive. Over our stay, we had the Eggs Florentine, the Vegetarian Breakfast, Kippers and Eggs Royale and we enjoyed them all. The hotel is close to all the main attractions in Bamburgh and it's easy to get to nearby Seahouses by car or bus. Or, you can take the scenic route and walk along the beach all the way to Seahouses. We did this on our first day and it was definitely time well spent. There was a power cut in the area on the Saturday evening, but we barely noticed it, because the hotel has a generator that kicked in immediately. We would definitely stay again!

Not stayed here for a few years, and had been tastefully upgraded and decorated throughout. Still great service and lovely food. Good location for exploring nothingumberland coast. Spacious well equipped room. Restaurant prices high for this area but....
