A traditional inn on Norwich Road with 11 rooms, free parking and a restaurant known for its Sunday carvery.
About The Plough Inn
Norwich Road runs into the city, and along it The Plough Inn offers a proper stop with its own garden and free on-site parking for anyone arriving by car. It's a straightforward, well-run inn rather than a grand hotel, with 11 rooms and a setting that keeps you close to Norwich itself without being in the thick of it.
Rooms are kept clean and comfortable, with bathrooms that guests find generously sized and showers with decent pressure. The restaurant and bar are the heart of the place, serving a varied menu that includes vegan options alongside a Sunday carvery that regulars particularly rate, plus a hearty breakfast to start the day. Staff are consistently described as friendly and attentive, giving the inn a warm, welcoming feel rather than a formal one.
Beyond the rooms and restaurant, there's a garden for quieter moments and the inn also operates as a wedding venue for those planning an occasion. With Norwich's historic landmarks and attractions within easy reach, it works well as a base for exploring the city while retreating to somewhere calm at the end of the day.

What guests say
Perfect for what we needed, an overnight stay prior to an early morning start for an event. The staff are delightful and the room (#5) large and well furnished. 6 stars for the bathroom; well decorated with an amazing shower! We watched England play Norway in the World Cup, so the large TV was much appreciated. Can't comment on breakfast as we had to leave early but the take-away coffee was a nice gesture.

Great pub with rooms. We had one night booked for a midweek getaway and chose The Plough Inn, the room we stayed in was room 4, it's one of the bigger rooms and overlooks the car park and road (we always have ear plugs in case of a noisy road) the decor is very nice and the bed and furnishings were very comfortable. The shower room was very clean and the shower was powerful. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, which was very good with a wide range of dishes and a great selection of beers and wine. The two girls running the restaurant did a fantastic job of keeping a very busy restaurant fed and watered. All the staff during our stay were fantastic, very attentive and up for a chat. The pub is just for enough away from Norwich to feel rural but just a short drive back to the city, the attractions of the norfolk coast, towns and villages are just a short drive away.

I don't normally give a pub B&B full points but the staff here were so friendly, including the owner Bradley, that I feel they deserve it. The rooms were lovely, clean and well presented. Fabulous bathroom too. We did not have an evening meal there but what I saw going out looked presentable. The breakfasts we had were delicious, with perfect poached eggs, a must for me. With a decent selection of juices and cereals. By all accounts a lot of work has been done to bring the inside up to spec and yes, like most pubs these days, they need to make their money through food. If I had any thing to add on the need to change side, would be the bacon. With the increasing temperature in this country they will need at some stage to place in air conditioning in the rooms. I wish them well and success 🙌

We had a lovely Sunday lunch here, the food was really delicious. My husband had the carvery and said it was one of the best he had ever eaten. I had the sea bass and it was lovely. Had a Norfolk cheese board too which I loved with a nice glass of red wine yum!
