About Blarcreen
Step into one of Blarcreen's three rooms and you'll find en-suite bathrooms, drinks laid on, and views across the garden towards the surrounding mountains. This is an adults-only guest house set in a Victorian mansion, so the rooms lean towards a more refined, quiet style of stay rather than family bustle, with free WiFi throughout for anyone who wants to stay connected.
Breakfast is served each morning with a Scottish leaning, and there's a garden with outdoor seating to sit out in when the weather allows, along with 24 hour reception for whenever you arrive. Free on-site parking makes getting there straightforward, whether you're driving in from Oban or further afield across Argyll and Bute.
The Ardchattan setting puts guests within reach of walking routes, fishing, and watersports, and there are pubs, restaurants and other eateries nearby for evenings out, plus entertainment options if you fancy more than a quiet night in. It's a base built for exploring the coast and countryside around Oban at a gentler pace.
What guests say
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Blarcreen House in October as part of our anniversary trip, and we can’t say enough good things about our experience. On the day we were set to arrive, a massive tropical storm hit the country and we found ourselves unable to reach the house because the road was blocked by downed trees. Deidre and David were incredibly kind and helpful in that situation, and even offered to venture out into the storm to retrieve us. They were understanding and flexible when we made the decision to find alternate accommodations for the first night, and they continued to check in on us to make sure we were safe. We were greeted with warm cups of tea and a roaring fire when we arrived the following morning, and we spent a leisurely afternoon reading in their cozy sitting room, watching the tail end of the storm sweep across the fields just outside the windows. The historic home is beautifully maintained and outfitted with tastefully-curated antiques and books. The location is absolute perfection; it is close enough to town to be convenient, but remote enough to feel like a true getaway. The house is situated between rolling hills and a loch, with a lush green field, woodlands, and a cottage-style garden. Nature lovers have opportunities to watch birds, catch a glimpse of red deer, or even spot a badger! It is truly idyllic. We loved every part of our stay and hope to return someday!

We needed a new angle beyond the usual hotel routine on our epic Scottish journey, so we rolled the dice on a stay near Oban—and it paid off beautifully. Finding the place felt like part of the adventure. At one point my girlfriend asked, “Are you sure we’re not lost?” I confidently assured her we were right on track… and for once, I was absolutely right. What we found was worth every twist in the road. The room was plush, comfortable, and perfectly cozy—the kind of place that makes you slow down without even trying. Waking up to rolling greenery and sheep grazing in the pasture felt like stepping into a postcard (or at least a very expensive screensaver). Our host, David, was fantastic—knowledgeable, welcoming, and clearly someone who takes pride in what he does. His made-to-order breakfast alone is worth the trip; I’m still thinking about it. All in all, a brilliant stay. We’d come back in a heartbeat—next time with even more confidence in my navigation skills.

Stunning 🤩 My partner and I had a lovely short stay here during the recent heatwave. Deirdre and David made us feel right at home, welcoming us on the doorstep and giving us local tips for places to see. The rooms were spacious and well appointed, the food was lovely, and the views of the surrounding glen are stunning. There are gorgeous walks right on the doorstep. And they even have friendly cats! 🐈⬛ Thank you for a lovely stay, we hope to return soon ☺️

My stay at Blarcreen House was one of my favorites of my road trip around Scotland. It was a lovely, special, and relaxing place to rest for two nights. The bed was so comfortable and the shower was hot! Deirdre and Vito were truly very welcoming and made me feel comfortable. I can't recommend this place enough!
