About The Kilchrenan Inn
Surrounded by the hills and lochside countryside of Argyll and Bute, The Kilchrenan Inn sits in the small settlement of Kilchrenan, with Ben Lui visible in the distance and Taynuilt a short drive away. It's the kind of spot where the landscape does much of the talking, and the inn itself settles comfortably into its rural surroundings.
Rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, with en-suite bathrooms, family rooms available, and views out towards the mountains. Free WiFi and drinks in the room add a bit of everyday convenience, and free on-site parking makes arriving by car straightforward. Downstairs, the restaurant and bar are the heart of the place, known for fresh local dishes and a Sunday roast worth planning a visit around, while the garden and outdoor seating make the most of the setting when the weather allows. Breakfast is included, and the staff are known for a warm, easy-going welcome that sets the tone for a relaxed stay.
Dogs are welcome, and prices are reasonable, making it a practical base for exploring Oban and the surrounding countryside. There's a pub and further restaurants nearby for those who want to venture out, but with its own kitchen and bar on site, many guests find little reason to leave.

What guests say
This place is wonderful! We spent three nights in a extremely comfortable, spacious and clean room and had dinner and breakfast in the pub every day! The menu is small and thought through. Local produce and classic dishes but made in a modern gastropub fashion and all of it was delicious! Its the comfiness of pub food but with a little twist of fine dining (the chicken liver parfait on rye would easily fit within a michelin menu). The Full Scottish breakfast was honestly the best version I've had in al my Scottish travels. The pub is cosy and lively and stocked with quality drinks and snacks from Scottish independent producers. More important: the people running the place are super hospitable and just general fun and good people. They made us feel right at home from the moment we checked in.

My wife and I had the most fantastic meal this evening at the Kilchrenan Inn. The beef wellington was by far the best we’ve ever had. And the fruit de mer alone was worth travelling the windy road for. Inn is beautifully decorated and bustling both in the bar and restaurant. The staff were so friendly and warm, Alice looked after us all evening. Will be coming back again in winter. You will not be disappointed.

My wife and I had such an excellent meal and wonderful service here one evening that we came back the following evening and did the same again! Absolutely first class. A special mention to our server on both evenings ( a blond lady from Suffolk) who could not have been bettered. Our only regret is that I wish we could have stayed there. The rooms looked great.

6 months late in writing this review (oops) but better late than never! We eloped near Loch Awe and decided to have a meal here that night to celebrate. We received the warmest welcome and congratulations from every one inside. Not only was the food perfect, the service was incredible! The lovely owners and staff who served us made the evening very special. And as if the whole day couldn’t have gotten any better, the kindest man sat next to us paid for all of our food and drinks. Followed by the owners generosity of covering the dessert cost. We were left speechless at the kindness shown and incredible atmosphere. Such a memorable meal that made our wedding day even more perfect. Will definitely return every time we are in the area. A very special place!
