About The Galaxie

A conservatory dining room is the sort of feature you don't expect from a Victorian townhouse, but it's where The Galaxie serves breakfast each morning, giving the property a bright, garden-facing spot to start the day. The building itself sits on Banbury Road, a period façade wrapped around interiors that lean modern and colourful rather than fussy or traditional.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks available in-room, and the practical extras that make a stay easier: a lift, free WiFi, and 24-hour reception for those arriving at odd hours. Luggage storage is on hand for early check-ins or late departures, and there's a garden and outdoor seating for guests who want to sit outside. On-site parking is available, though it comes at an extra charge rather than being included.

The location on Banbury Road puts guests within reach of pubs, restaurants and other eateries nearby, along with entertainment options for evenings out. Golf and fishing are also listed as nearby activities for those looking to fill a day beyond the city itself. It's a straightforward, well-equipped base for exploring Oxford, with the conservatory breakfast room as its most distinctive touch.

👍 very nice place, amazing food and workers were lovely. Near the city centre, but in a smaller shopping area, in Summertown, very good location, there's a Costa nearby but I preferred the hotel's coffee. The room was very well decorated and bed was comfy, but did get quite hot at night.

Had such a lovely stay at the Galaxie Hotel in Oxford. The staff were genuinely so friendly and welcoming and made the whole stay feel really relaxed. The decor is beautiful and gives the hotel so much character. Breakfast was also amazing with loads of choice and really good quality. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

We stayed at The Galaxie hotel over Easter break and I was very disappointed as it's listed as a 4 star hotel. The photos look great and the entrance and interiors online look good and eclectic with lots of personality which I like but in real life the hotel looks very tired and needs a good clean. Our room was very dusty and it felt like we were in an old storage cupboard, very pokey room with a big red drape curtain covering the ugliest window so no natural light. Staff were great and sweet but this felt like a budget bed and breakfast not a four star hotel!

Room was asthetically pleasing but the function of it wasnt great. I can only speak for my room on the third floor but its very hot and I had to keep the windows open all night even in Feb. The floors are all wooden so its very easy to disturb guests staying below you if you walk around after hours. Also the bed I had was 2 singles pushed together.. which yes, does happen but it has no grips on the feet so the beds constantly split apart on the wooden floor if you move making it a very uncomfortable sleep. Again, very nice to look at but I think some practical adjustments would make a big difference
