Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is one of my favourite places, and no matter how many times I visit, I never get bored of it. The coastal walk, beautiful marshes, little café and path leading to the beach make it such a peaceful place to explore. It's a real hidden gem and the perfect way to round off a visit to Rye town centre. Highly recommended.

Lovely coastal reserve with good size Cafe. Can be busy on nice days. Good facilities for bird watchers. Circular walk has seafront, old Lifeboat Station, and the ruins Camber Castle. Parking is free but a donation is an option. Please keep dogs on a lead particularly on the Circular walk as you go through sheep and cow pastures.

We go here a LOT. As in almost as much as where we actually live. It's beautiful and there's always something new to spot. They do everything they can to get people to respect the dogs on leads rule because there are so many ground nesting birds, wildlife and rare plants that need to be protected but people still ignore it. So if you visit please don't be a selfish idiot. There's lots of poo bins, an incredible discovery centre with toilets, shop and cafe (dog friendly), lots of trails to take (maps available) and brass rubbings (so take crayons and paper). Even when it feels cool make sure you cover up because there's no shade and you can turn a shade of lobster alarming quickly on an overcast day (trust me on this one). The beach part is great for finding sea glass. But beware of the biobeads that are still showing up after the catastrophic water company mess up last year. The carpark is free or you can get the train to Rye and follow the signs to the nature reserve (about 40 minutes with quite small legs).

We visited on a very windy but sunny day. The cafe, shop, toilets and information centre was a 15 minute walk from a free carpark. The enthusiastic volunteer staff were welcoming and informed us of all their facilities. The food was fresh and of high quality with reasonable prices. We ate ploughman's, fruit scone, apple cake with coffee and tea. The views from the huge windows were magnificent and, of course, attracted walkers and bird watchers. There were pairs of binoculars to use at the window seats. Well behaved dogs were made welcome. It is a super building and well worth a visit.
