About Maengwyn Hir Campsite

Tucked into a peaceful smallholding near Llanfyrnach, Maengwyn Hir sits in the geographic sweet spot of Pembrokeshire – ideal for exploring the county's north, west and south coasts without committing to one corner. The tiny site (just a handful of pitches) gazes out toward the Preseli Hills, with a picnic area by the pond where you can properly drink in the views. Campfires and barbecues are welcomed, and there's a drying room for walkers who've been caught out by Welsh weather.

The rural setting delivers proper tranquillity and excellent walking straight from the pitch, with trails passing the local pub about ten minutes away on foot. From here, family attractions like Folly Farm and Heatherton are within striking distance, while coast-chasers can reach everything from Cardigan and Newgale to Tenby and Pendine. The facilities are straightforward rather than fancy, but that's entirely the point – this is low-key camping with big scenery and a central launchpad for West Wales adventures.

Unfortunately the cleanliness let this site down, the static caravan where you access amenities and the shower was covered in mildew and dead flies, the bathroom floor was filthy, not sure when the bathroom bin was last emptied. There were teabags dating back to 2024, an out of date fire extinguisher and the smell of mildew was overpowering at times. The kettle, windows, cupboards, utensils was covered in mould We couldn't put this down to overuse as we were the only ones there. The owners are lovely people, the views are great. Currently as it stands it's a health hazard.

On the farm, surrounded by other farms, where you wake up to the singing of birds or sheep, there is an intimate, very well-kept camping site, as well as one stic caravan with a private garden. The caravan is fully equipped with everything you need for everyday use, clean and well-kept. A very quiet place, without crowds and noise, ideal for quieting down. For us it was ideal and our dog was very happy too.

O Rob

Stayed last night whilst on our travels. We arrived late and the owner was very accommodating, Such a nice guy. Lovely little quiet site. Toilets were spotless and a caravan as a rest room and further toilet and shower is a great idea. Will definitely stay again See you soon 👍

This place is my go to whenever I have chance to get away. I have never felt more welcomed and always felt a part of their family. Such a beautiful well mannered family who i grateful to have met, especially their brilliant dog Skye! They even have a whole cabin with tv, cooking essentials, shower, toilets and even had a dry room. I was very impressed how clean everything was inside, and outside! I have stayed twice now, and even introduced my father and grandmother to the site who enjoyed it just as much as me. I honestly don’t need to look elsewhere when you have such a beautiful place, friendly service, fresh eggs for breakfast that they bring around!!! Lovely fields to walk the dogs and such spectacular views! I cannot recommend this place enough it’s my forever favourite. Thank you very much guys!!!! Can’t wait to see you soon xx
