Simply Camping Pembrokeshire

We spent a week camping at Kings Mill and we absolutely loved it. The owners Jo & Nick are lovely and made us feel very welcome. Our pitch (Wagtail) was huge (we had a good sized 4 person tent and a VW camper van on it and still had tons of space on the pitch for lounging arouind), very prviate and had a good combination of shade and sunlight so you can choose if you want to sit in the sun or not. Having our own private facilities was great. We were a little wary of the composting toilet when booking, but it worked brilliantly especially given the heat (30 degree plus) all week long. The shower was really good too, plenty of power and a good temperature range. The large shelter was great to get away from the heat during the day and then for cooking in on a evening and sitting around the firepit (with free firewood) to keep warm as the temperatures dropped at night. I can see this style of camping catching on. With woodland and meadow walks it's great for dogs as well. The location is perfect for exploring Pembrokshire, with most tourist attractions being no further than 20 minutes drive away. We absolutely loved Kings Mill and would definitely go back there. We recently spent a week camping at King's Mill with our 2 children. It's easily the best campsite we've ever visited. There's a fantastic combination of being so close to nature, yet having private and convenient facilities. The eco toilet and gas-powered shower work so well. It's a pleasure to spend time around the campsite, with beautiful views, woodland (inc. slides and rope swings), meadow, your own shelter and plenty of open space on your pitch. We made use of the campsite honesty shop - great for ice creams and the locally produced sausages (some of the best I've tasted). It was a welcome luxury to treat ourselves to home baked bread and croissant. We never needed to drive far, visiting fantastic local beaches (Barafundle, Broad Haven South, Manorbier, Freshwater West) and castles (Pembroke and Manorbier). There are loads of attractions for kids around Tenby too. Nick and Jo are so friendly and will make you feel most welcome. We hope to return!

A piece of paradise! From the moment we booked to when we left, Nick and Jo were super helpful and friendly. This is the best campsite we've ever been to - we're totally spoiled for anywhere else, others just don't compare! We spent 7 nights on Weasel pitch and could have easily spent another week. The shelter is a game changer. We didn't need to pack all the usual kitchen unit and tables as we had plenty of room on the bench in the shelter, which also housed a picnic table and a firepit, meaning even if it rained we could sit around a campfire, cook and eat. Having our own shower and loo on the pitch, was a godsend for us older campers who may need that 3am trip 😀 Both of those were spotless upon our arrival, with enough loo roll for our stay. Shower was lovely and hot, and had a handy little bowl and shelf for hand/face washing. The pitch was in partial woodland, with a substantial amount of grass area to put our tent and our loungers. Lovely generous borders of wildflowers surrounded us, visited by loads of butterflies. A real haven for wildlife - we had a toad venture across the grass one day, lots of birds everyday (chiffchaffs, bullfinches, long tail tit's, and song thrush, plus flyovers from swallows and ravens) and bats once the sun went down. I had my bat detector going each evening and on the last night was treated to a lesser horseshoe bat flying around the shelter - my first ever! The communal washing up area looks like a fairy wonderland at night, and has a freezer for ice blocks or anything else you may need to keep frozen. The little shop was also in this area, and operates on an honesty system - if you've forgotten to pack something you'd probably find it in there, alongside locally produced jams, chutneys etc. There is an option to order croissants and pain au chocolat for the morning, which is delivered hot to your pitch with a lovely friendly smile! Freshly baked bread is also available. The meadow and woodland walks are wonderful, and it's very obvious that Nick and Jo are passionate about nature and wildlife and are happy to share it with us. I can't think of another campsite that offers everything that Nick and Jo have thought of - a true gem of a place. We spent most of our days just relaxing on our pitch, making the most of the glorious sunshine, but did venture out to Pembroke Castle, Freshwater West and Angle. We're already planning our next visit to see more of Pembrokeshire and enjoy the peace and seclusion of King's Mill.

Where do I even start? We’ve just stayed again for the 5th time and we’re already booked in for the 6th! This is the best camping location we’ve found, and it genuinely offers a quintessential Pembrokeshire experience! From the large, private pitches with separate hot showers and toilets, to the quiet natural location and woodland setting, to the beautiful views and atmosphere. Nick and Jo are the most welcoming hosts, and they go above and beyond to make your whole experience perfect! Freshly baked bread or pastries in the morning? No problem! Free firewood for the campfire, sorted. All essentials sold in the camp shop, of course!!
