Blairgowrie sits at the heart of Perthshire walking country, with lochs, forest trails and quiet roads for cycling within easy reach. Tawny Cottage makes a straightforward base for exploring it all. The property is a converted cottage in open countryside, three miles from the town, with its own driveway and space for one car. One dog is welcome to stay at no extra cost, though the garden is not fenced.
Inside, the cottage is arranged over two floors. Downstairs holds a combined living and dining space with a wood-effect gas fire, a fully fitted kitchen, and a shower room. Upstairs, the bedroom has a king-size bed and a TV; the main bathroom contains a bath. Essentials like electricity, Wi-Fi and towels are covered. Outside, a raised deck to the rear looks onto farm fields and holds a sunken hot tub, along with outdoor furniture and a secure storage area for bikes. The decking can be slippery when wet.

Superbly appointed cottage with great hot tub and lovely location. Lots of thought has gone into the many extra touches around the place. The owner really looks after this place and should be well proud of the service she delivers. Kitchen had loads of top drawer appliance. Very comfortable.

I absolutely loved my stay at Tawny Cottage! It was spotless, really cosy, and had everything I needed, you can tell a lot of care goes into keeping it well maintained and equipped. The jacuzzi was amazing and made the stay feel extra special. The owners had the heating on for my arrival and I received the best welcome pack. They also showed me around and made sure I had everything I needed, but then gave me privacy. I even got some top tips for local walks and eateries. It was the perfect little getaway and a great place to base yourself for beautiful walks and places to visit such as Blairgowrie, Dunkeld, Alyth and more. My dog was also welcomed with her own little welcome pack. There is a short circular path from the cottage that you can walk in the evening. I’d definitely recommend it for homely comfort and a peaceful rest!

Stayed here in 2021 and despite leaving previous reviews, they’ve since sadly disappeared. Tawny Cottage is such a well-thought out and beautifully renovated holiday let in an idyllic and quiet location, and it made our first time visiting Scotland just perfect. I also couldn’t help but wake up early to take photos of the red squirrels and wildlife playing in the trees and around the driveway. Located not too far from the A9, it’s an ideal base to explore some truly lovely areas of Scotland. I highly recommend walking to the Loch of Clunie where, if you’re lucky, you might see one of the nesting Ospreys. A short drive to the lovely village of Dunkeld is again highly recommended. Although steep, Dunkeld Woods is definitely worth trekking through and, if you’re lucky again, you might even spot the albino deer that frequents the woods. And what better way to relax after a day of exploring, than to return to the luxury of a hot tub… perfect! If you’re considering a holiday to Scotland, I highly recommend Tawny Cottage. My wife and I travelled almost 1500 miles during our week here, and we visited Inverness, Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, Queens View, Glen Coe, Glen Etive, Ben Nevis Viewing Point, Blairgowrie and Dunkeld, to name a few, as well as experiencing the 5* Highland Safari tour, plus a couple of whisky distillery sampling tours too. Perfect!
