This former longhouse has been transformed into a one-bedroom retreat while keeping its character intact. Stone walls, exposed beams and wooden floors define the open-plan living space, where a wood-burning stove sits beneath vaulted ceilings. The bedroom has a vaulted ceiling too, and leads straight into an en-suite with a walk-in shower. A conservatory with glass on two sides overlooks the Ochil and Cleish Hills, and beyond it lies an enclosed garden where peacocks roam freely.
The property stands within the grounds of Tullibole Castle, a 17th-century fortress you can explore by arrangement with the owner. The castle moat dates back further still, and sometimes attracts kingfishers and herons. An 18th-century dovecote and a memorial maze to the Crook of Devon Witch Trials lie within the estate. Woodland surrounds the whole site. A 25-minute walk leads to the village with shops and a pub.
The kitchen has an electric hob, combi oven-microwave-grill, and washing machine. WiFi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. You have parking on site and the whole property to yourself. The cottage is no-smoking. Gleneagles golf course is nearby; Edinburgh, St Andrews and Stirling are all within an hour's drive.
