Churchwood Valley, Plymouth PL9 0DZ, UK

Wooded valley of timber holiday cabins at Wembury Bay, around eight miles from Plymouth

About Churchwood Valley

Churchwood Valley spreads across seventy-five acres of woodland and fields that roll down to Wembury Bay, south-east of Plymouth, offering well-spaced timber cabins rather than conventional pitches. Each cabin sits on its own plot among trees and shrubs, some with glimpses of the sea or the valley's water meadow below. Private paths lead down to the National Trust beach at Wembury—about ten minutes' walk from the furthest cabins—where rock pools and shingle give way to sand at low tide.

The setting suits families and couples after a self-catering base without the bustle of a touring park. On-site facilities include tennis courts, a small shop and launderette, with sea fishing available nearby. The South West Coast Path runs close by, heading east towards the River Yealm's passenger ferry to Newton Ferrers, or west to Mount Batten and the water taxi into Plymouth.

Because accommodation is entirely in cabins, Churchwood Valley works well for visitors who want a wooded, coastal setting without bringing their own kit—a quieter alternative to staying in Plymouth itself for a week centred on the beach and coast path.

This is one of our favourite places to stay, we love it here! The cabins are not new, but they have all the essentials and the location more than makes up for it. The walk down to the beach is so special and we will be coming back again for sure! There is just something special about it 😊

Great place for everyone and any age. Wake up to the dawn chorus in the woods, bell ringing practice on a Wednesday evening, or just walk down to the sheltered beach. Great staff, very friendly and helpfull. Everyone obeys the private road speed limits, making it safe for children riding their bicycles etc.

Quite basic accommodation but it has everything you need. We stayed at Middle road 1,my only advice would be take an extension cord with extra outlet's. It was a very private location with lots of wildlife around

They are worth every single star. Never staying in a hotel again, when visiting my family in Plymouth. Staff were amazing, super helpful and very friendly. We stayed in one of the larger cabins. The views and peacefulness of the area, were very therapeutic. Our cabin was very clean and tidy and had everything you would need for self catering. It’s a short walk to the beach, and they allow small barbecues, little pit fires and you can also fish! Kids all loved having a barbecue on the beach and watching the sun set. There is loads of things to keep the kids occupied. I will definitely be back! If I could given them a million stars I would.
