About Citadel House Hotel
The Barbican's cobbled streets and Plymouth city centre are both within easy walking distance of Citadel House Hotel, making it a practical base for exploring the harbour, pubs, and restaurants that give the area its character. Further afield, the surrounding Devon countryside and coast offer walking and cycling routes, golf, fishing and watersports for those keen to venture out.
The hotel itself is a small, six-room B&B on Citadel Road. Some rooms come with en suite bathrooms, and all guests have access to free WiFi and drinks in the room. Breakfast is included each morning, and staff are on hand around the clock at 24 hour reception, with luggage storage available for those exploring before check-in or after check-out. Childcare can also be arranged.
It's a straightforward, no-frills stay rather than a destination in itself, but the location does the work: pubs, restaurants and entertainment are all nearby, and Plymouth's attractions are close enough to reach on foot.

Stayed here for 2 nights in a family room with my Brother and this was one of the only place we could be in the same room but not in the same bed. Seriously, do you know how hard it is to book a room for 2 adults and not share a bed? Anyway, off topic. The family room was at the top of the house, 1 double bed and 1 single bed. The journey up wasn't so bad, my brother has some joint issues and he could do it so thats something. The rooms presentation was ok. I thought the towels where cute and the beds are really comfy (seriously the yellow blankets are so soft) There was some damage to the room, cost of staying in an old house i guess. Wallpaper peeling, mold in some of the corners, rusty appliances, etc. You definitely get the price you pay for. My biggest gripe was the WiFi. The website features it as a main plus of the stay but when we finally managed to get onto it. It was way to weak to actually reach our room and wouldn't even show up unless we went down at least to flights of stairs. However the host was friendly and we had 0 issues with the rest of our stay. We loved how close it was to the town and it's very quiet despite being next to the road.

Although the host was pleasant and welcomed us … the hotel is totally in a shambles , our rooms bed was held together by parcel tape and there were no sockets next to bed only one double near the sink next tithe window Shelves were falling off the walls , decor was tired and paper cracked and hanging off the walls , the shower head was filthy and rusty and there were only enough tea bags fir one cup each Felt grotty and I had another trip booked here iv now cancelled it such a shame really , The signs says hotel is under improvements but the mats no excuse for the poor condition and state of our room and general areas . The framed pictures up the bathroom had melted n buckled out of their frames with the heat in the bathroom just left there to rot Nice building too very neglected The wi fi was confusing too so used my own . Although it was unacceptable Expedia refused me a refund and offered me £25 credit …. Fuming

I honestly find it hard to write some of these reviews, but also believe feedback, if given in the right way is helpful and it's also only fair for others to know what things are really like. So here goes..... The lady who greeted us, presumably her house, was just lovely. Very welcoming and really friendly. It would have been nice to discuss the contents of this review with her but on reading other reviews and knowing the hostility they faced, I didn't much fancy it, especially because it was 'meant' to be a special weekend with my daughter. As above, greeting on check in and check out was really pleasant. The room however, if I'd of had the choice or the money, or been able to get my money back, I would have left. I don't often feel that way, I'm pretty easy pleased, but the pictures advertised do not represent this place. In fact it was filthy. Please see pictures!! One of the cups and saucers in the room was dirty, there were brown splashes on the wall around the toilet paper, there was brown 'stuff' under the toilet seat, loads of dust on lampshade, dust all over toilet roll holder, shower screen is filthy, wall paper coming off, and when I saw the plug hole whilst brushing my teeth, it made me urge!!!! I'm sorry, but it shouldn't be allowed to be let out for people to stay in, in that state. I can cope with tired and needs some TLC but this was bad. Your location is great! But for £10 more we could have stayed at the Duke of Cornwall. Boy, I wish we did!!!! Please have a deep clean. Not good at all.
