About Premier Inn Southsea
Clarence Pier is within easy walking distance of Premier Inn Southsea, along with Gunwharf Quays for shopping and the Isle of Wight Hoverport for those wanting a day trip across the Solent. The seafront itself is right on the doorstep, making this a practical base for exploring Portsmouth without needing to drive everywhere, though a car is useful given the golf, fishing, horse riding and watersports opportunities nearby.
The hotel has 48 rooms spread across three floors, all en suite and including family rooms and accessible options, with some enjoying sea views. Rooms come with drinks available and the straightforward, modern feel typical of the brand. An on-site restaurant and bar cover breakfast and evening meals, and 24-hour reception means arrival times are flexible.
Parking is available on-site but limited and chargeable, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with alternative paid parking a short walk away if the hotel's own spaces are full. Beyond the immediate seafront attractions, the surrounding area offers pubs, restaurants and walking or cycling routes, making it a workable spot for both a coastal break and access to wider Portsmouth.
What guests say
We had an amazing time staying in this hotel, the staff was very pleasant, accomodating and very helpful. Specially to the guy receptionist on the evening of July 3rd. I forgot to ask his name but he was very kind and helpful to us when we arrive and assisted us with regards to car parking and internet connection. Rooms are so nice and clean, my family rested well during the evenings. We will surely book this place again if ever we need to come back.❤️

We arrived at 3 pm on 12th April and welcomed by a lovely girl on reception. She was helpful and polite and friendly. Our room was just a standard but in typical Premier Inn style the room was spotless and the bathroom the same .The bed was as usual super comfortable with nice clean bedding. Parking was easy at the Premier inn at at £7 for our stay was excellent value. We will definitely stay here again on our way to the Isle of Wight ferry.

We were greeted by the lovely Matilda, she was helpful and interested to get local recommendations to pass onto other customers. On this occasion we were upgraded, what a joy lovely room, clean and with delightful air conditioning which considering the heatwave was a treat. We also had a sea view, with the busy water way fun to watch.

We use Premier Inns a lot for short breaks. This one is one the seafront at Southsea and is an easyish walk into Old Portsmouth and the attractions. The hotel itself is in desperate need of some TLC. Our room had a creaky floorboard and the toilet seat had been replaced - badly. The room overhead had a heavy footed walker whose bedtime was well past midnight and was a real intrusion. The staff did not seem interested in this. The restaurant is a basic cheap fill em up place. But the food was plentifull and on the whole warm. Some staff were great but the general feeling was that all the staff are under pressure.
