Kites Nest is a fully equipped rural lodge where everything you need for a break is already there. The open-plan living space has a woodburner, smart TV with Netflix, and a sofa bed alongside the main bedroom's double. The kitchen comes ready to cook with—gas oven and hob, fridge and freezer all in place. Electricity, gas, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. A cot and highchair are available if needed. The single bathroom has both bath and walk-in shower.
The lodge sits on a valley slope in Powys, surrounded by ancient woodland and grazing fields where farm animals are visible from the terrace. You get a private hot tub, garden furniture, and space to sit out. A path leads directly into the woods behind for daytime walks. Parking for two cars is on site. Newtown is a few miles away if you want restaurants or tea rooms, but the real draw here is the quiet—red kites nest in the trees overhead, and owls call at night. Children often find the farm setting compelling; the owner can arrange activities like bottle-feeding lambs on request. No smoking indoors. There is a pond in the grounds.

Having watched the Channel 4 series 4 in a bed and Bechan Retreats becoming the worthy winners for that week, I immediately booked a 5 night stay in the Kites Nest Lodge. We weren’t disappointed. The rooms were clean and spotless and the views of the hills from the lounge were amazing. The contemporary decor and furniture was an added bonus and the owners were very nice and friendly. We had visits from their lovable dog, Sam and a beautiful peacock and blue tits, finches and a red woodpecker were a common sight from the nearby bird feeders. At night we saw bats flying around and heard owls. The hot tub was a blessing after a long day’s walking and very easy to use. All in all a very enjoyable and peaceful retreat and would definitely recommend.

This is 5☆ All day. We are just back from a week in The Kingfisher Cabin. Ever since I seen it on Four in a Bed I've been dying to stay. Its perfect. Super clean tidy and everything you need. The horses and animals on the farm are an added bonus and the views are amazing. I want to live there. Already planning our return. Thank you for making us so welcome. Great Team See you soon Nikki Dave and Simba 🐾

Just back from a brilliant couple of nights. Have done a few cabin/hot tub on a farm type things in the past but this was the best by far. Lovely little cabin (we stayed in Kingfisher) in absolutely stunning surroundings. Lovely little farm to look round, great wildlife spotting and the jets on the hot tub were just the ticket for my bad back. Already booked for another trip in a different cabin in Autumn while we were there! Hosts are charming, as is Sam the farm dog. Montgomery and its castle are a short drive away for a lovely lunch and look around. Really really beautiful stay. Thank you, and can’t wait to come back in October!

We stayed at Kites Nest lodge over the bank holiday weekend and had an amazing time. The lodge is in a wonderful, peaceful location with fantastic views. It was clean and cosy on arrival, comfortable, modern and beautifully furnished and we had everything we needed. We loved all the animals, sheep, horses and cows in the surrounding fields, the sheepdog, the visiting peacock and his peahen and mother duck with her baby ducklings on the little stream. The hot tub was fantastic. We very much enjoyed cycling along the Montgomery canal and on National Cycle Route 81. A brilliant holiday in all and we hope to come back one day. Thank you so much.
