Kookaburra Lodge

Brecon sits at the gateway to Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, a market town where independent shops and cafés line streets alongside the cathedral, and the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal offers towpaths for walking. Kookaburra Lodge occupies the first floor above Rourke's Drift Public House, placing you in the thick of things but with your own separate entrance and all the space to yourselves.

Three bedrooms sleep six: one has a super king bed, the other two are doubles. Each room has a smart TV. The main living area opens into a dining space with PlayStation 5 and another television. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking—electric hob, combi oven with grill, air fryer, coffee machine, fridge and freezer—so you can prepare proper meals. A bathroom with bath, shower and heated towel rail serves the flat. Gas central heating keeps things warm; wi-fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included.

From here, Pen y Fan and the park's walking routes are within easy reach, while Hay-on-Wye's bookshops lie a short drive off. The Brecon Mountain Railway appeals to families, and the town's pubs and restaurants are on your doorstep. No smoking is permitted indoors. Check-in is after 16:00, departure before 10:00.
