Eight acres of countryside surround Blackbird Cottage, with woodland walks, a pond crossed by bridges, and mixed plantings of bluebells and wild roses. The grounds contain a children's play area and games room; further afield lie Powys Castle, Chirk Castle and the Welshpool to Llanfair Steam Railway, alongside walking country that extends into Shropshire and North Wales.
The cottage is single-storey throughout, accessed by ramp, with a spacious open-plan living area, kitchen equipped for cooking from scratch, and three bedrooms sleeping up to six: a double and two twin rooms. A wet room with bath and shower, plus a separate toilet, serve the property. The essentials—heating, electricity, linen and towels—are provided, along with wifi and parking on site. One pet stays free. The property does not permit smoking.
A range of mobility equipment is available, including a wheeled shower chair and hoist. Games in the shared external room include pool and table tennis. This is a detached property; you have the whole place to yourselves.

We stayed in Wren's Nest, 3 adults in 2 bedrooms. The cottage is well maintained and has everything that you could require for a short break, 2 bedrooms, kitchen area, lounge area and bathroom/wet room. Furnishings, decor & facilities are a little dated but fully functional. The only 'negative' is room sizes, everything is quite cosy in size but that would really only impact if you were in the property 24/7. The other 2 cottages on site are much, much more roomy. There is a small games room, pool table, some gym gear and ample games to occupy a family. A few outdoor kid's slides etc.. Pet friendly. The owners are very obliging and go out of their way to make your stay very straight forward & comfortable, nothing is too much trouble. Very welcoming. The position of the properties is quite breathtaking, lots and lots of varied birds visit constantly and use the many well stocked feeders. Roads not brilliant but you have to take that as granted in the knowledge of where you are. I would recommend this site to anyone looking for good walking, hiking, outdoor activities or just simple relaxation time. Very, very peaceful. Photos from our visit were taken in an exceptionally snowy few days but that was forecast so we had taken plenty of supplies. Overall, excellent value for money and well worth consideration.

Stayed here for two times, lovely place with views, walks and plenty of opportunities to explore mid Wales round. Some highlights within 1hr drive: lake Vyrnwy, Elan Valley, Llanidloes village, Pontcysyllte aqueduct, Montgomery and Powis castles, Aberdyfi coastal village - all worth a day for a visit
