Photo: Pen Y Lan Lodges

Oakwood Lodge is a single-storey, purpose-built property designed around one open-plan space that combines living, dining and kitchen areas. Everything flows onto a private terrace with a four-person hot tub. Inside are two bedrooms—one with a king bed, one with two singles—and a shower room, all serving up to four guests. The lodge sits on a working farm within a mile of Meifod village, surrounded by fields and hills in the Vyrnwy Valley.

The kitchen is equipped for full self-catering, with electric oven and hob, dishwasher and microwave. There's a wood burner in the living area (fuel included), smart TV, wi-fi and oil central heating. Bed linen and towels are provided. One dog is welcome. The property is non-smoking.

The landscape outside encourages morning walks or quiet evenings. Meifod has a pub and shop within walking distance. Welshpool, six miles away, offers shops, restaurants and attractions including Powis Castle and a narrow-gauge railway. Electric car charging is available at cost.

We've just finished the most peaceful and wonderful week at Pen-Y-Lan Oakwood Lodge! We cannot praise the hosts enough, from their carefully thought out design, space, views, lodges, care to detail and everyday interactions with us! We came as a family of 4 (2 children) and a dog. The dog had bowls ready for him, a little treat tub, there was a lovely basket of treats on the table for us when we arrived. The lodge has everything you need and the hot-tub just adds to the whole relaxation feel! Honestly, a true hidden gem. If you like space, peace and quiet then this is for you with a touch of luxury. The surrounding area is just as wonderful, the kids loved watching the hosts who are also the farmers rounding up and feeding the sheep on their quad everyday, the sheepdogs greet us like they know us, there are swallows swooping over the pond in front of the lodges (we helped one- whole other story but amazing), and the sky at night is exceptional for any fellow stargazers out there (bring a telescope)! You could come just for a relaxation break and if you like adventure, walking and outdoors there is lots to do out of the immediate area. The hosts were very happy to tell us all the good places to go. Not a bad word to say about this place, we will certainly be back. Thank you for a fantastic holiday, we felt relaxed and comfy from the minute we arrived.

We just spent a week in one of these beautiful lodges, a wonderful location and really well equipped, spacious accommodation, extremely clean and well thought out positioning of the lodges for privacy. The host/owners are really friendly and gave us some great pointers on where to go and what to do. We're already planning our return later in the year. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The most beautiful lodges in a gorgeous location. Our stay was absolutely perfect. We are already planning to return as we loved it so much. From the second we walked through the door we felt at home, relaxed and connected with nature. Thank you so much.

Out of the way but close enough to the village and roads around the area, vest lodges I've stopped in, lovely and quiet, plenty of sheep, very tidy place and easy access to surrounding countryside for walking. 3 lodges and spot on.
