Poplar Lodge is a new timber-clad lodge on a family-run farm near Meifod, designed entirely on one level. You arrive into a generous open-plan living space: a sitting room with a woodburner and smart TV, a dining area, and a fully fitted kitchen flow together, with patio doors opening onto a raised terrace that overlooks the fields. The bedrooms are a king and a pair of singles; the bathroom has a walk-in shower and heated towel rail, plus a separate toilet. What you get on arrival is bed linen, towels, wi-fi, heating, and an initial load of wood for the stove.
The enclosed garden and courtyard give you a private sitting area with views across grazing land toward rolling hills and a lake. There's parking for two cars on site and an electric car charging point (charged at cost). The lodge sits on a working farm, which shapes what surrounds you—quiet, agricultural, genuine countryside rather than a landscaped setting. Meifod village itself is small; Welshpool, six miles away, has independent shops, cafés, and access to Powis Castle and Gardens. The area suits walkers and anyone wanting to be properly away from towns. No smoking indoors. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

We've just finished the most peaceful and wonderful week at Pen-Y-Lan Oakwood Lodge! We cannot praise the hosts enough, from their carefully thought out design, space, views, lodges, care to detail and everyday interactions with us! We came as a family of 4 (2 children) and a dog. The dog had bowls ready for him, a little treat tub, there was a lovely basket of treats on the table for us when we arrived. The lodge has everything you need and the hot-tub just adds to the whole relaxation feel! Honestly, a true hidden gem. If you like space, peace and quiet then this is for you with a touch of luxury. The surrounding area is just as wonderful, the kids loved watching the hosts who are also the farmers rounding up and feeding the sheep on their quad everyday, the sheepdogs greet us like they know us, there are swallows swooping over the pond in front of the lodges (we helped one- whole other story but amazing), and the sky at night is exceptional for any fellow stargazers out there (bring a telescope)! You could come just for a relaxation break and if you like adventure, walking and outdoors there is lots to do out of the immediate area. The hosts were very happy to tell us all the good places to go. Not a bad word to say about this place, we will certainly be back. Thank you for a fantastic holiday, we felt relaxed and comfy from the minute we arrived.

We just spent a week in one of these beautiful lodges, a wonderful location and really well equipped, spacious accommodation, extremely clean and well thought out positioning of the lodges for privacy. The host/owners are really friendly and gave us some great pointers on where to go and what to do. We're already planning our return later in the year. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The most beautiful lodges in a gorgeous location. Our stay was absolutely perfect. We are already planning to return as we loved it so much. From the second we walked through the door we felt at home, relaxed and connected with nature. Thank you so much.

Out of the way but close enough to the village and roads around the area, vest lodges I've stopped in, lovely and quiet, plenty of sheep, very tidy place and easy access to surrounding countryside for walking. 3 lodges and spot on.
