You enter The Cart House into a ground-floor living space with French doors opening onto a garden and patio. The layout is straightforward: a living room with woodburner and smart TV, an adjoining kitchen with electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and coffee machine, and a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs is a single bedroom with a double bed and en-suite shower. The whole property is yours alone, with parking for one car on site. Essentials—electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wi-fi—are covered, and logs for the woodburner are provided.
The Cart House occupies a small hamlet near Merthyr Cynog in Powys, surrounded by open countryside. From the garden you look out over fields and hills; walking routes like the Epynt Way start from your doorstep, making this a solid base for exploring the landscape on foot or by bike. Brecon town centre is 8 miles away, where you'll find the Regimental Museum, a cathedral, a theatre and the Brecon Jazz Festival in summer. The canal nearby offers barge trips. Builth Wells—also within reach—hosts regular shows and events at the Royal Welsh Showground. The nearest shop, pub and restaurant are 8 miles distant, so you're well removed from passing trade but not isolated. No smoking inside; one well-behaved pet can stay with you at no extra cost.

What guests say
We had a short weekend at the cart house, would recommend to anyone who wants a restful few day, the house was equipped to the highest standard, and the nicest thing they accept dogs, who wants to go away without their dog? Caroline and Nigel were lovely people. Five star
