A lovely hotel in the charming town of Garstang. We decided to break our journey and stop off at the Royal Oak and a perfect decision that turned out to be. We were very well received, the room was lovely, a very nice traditional bar with a great range of beers/drinks etc. and we had a lovely dinner out front just to cap it all. A superb breakfast set us up next morning ready for the continuation of our journey. We are sure to return at next travel opportunity.

We stayed here Thursday 7th May. We had a wedding at Wyresdale Oark on the 8th..The family room 1 was perfectly adequate. 1 double and two singles, very comfortable and very clean, bathroom was very clean if a little dated, but perfectly adequate. We booked a table for 10 for dinner and it was a great experience. No rush to sit down, we sat and ate at our leisure. Staff were efficient and friendly, food came out hot and fresh...no waste, all thoroughly enjoyed. What I will say is the salt and pepper chicken wings were the best I've ever had as was the fruit based cremé bruléé.. The breakfast included in the £120 room price was lovely, great produce perfectly cooked...a great night's sleep, great food, friendly staff and locals and a lovely little town...When i'm in the area again we will stop here, thanks for a great experience.

Nice clean room, bed very uncomfortable we did not sleep well, for some reason they don't put normal teabags in the room but you can ask for them in a pot at breakfast????????? No tin tomato's at breakfast and awful sausage (personal choice), plenty of other bars luckily as I drink John Smiths of which they don't sell here, but everything else was fine

We visited for lunch today. The food was a long time coming though the pub didnt seem as busy as it used to be.. My burgers were black around the outside. They didnt taste burnt but were quite dry. My husband's fish was dark brown and obviously overcooked and dry. We have been eating in the Royal Oak for over 40 years and never been disappointed. Sadly we wont be coming again
