About Guys Thatched Hamlet
Preston sits at the heart of Lancashire, within reach of golf courses, fishing spots and watersports, and it's on the edge of this city, along a quiet canal, that Guys Thatched Hamlet makes its home. The hotel takes its name from a cluster of thatched buildings that give it a village-like feel rather than a typical city hotel, with a garden and outdoor seating area overlooking the water where guests can sit out in fine weather.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and some feature jacuzzi baths, along with drinks available in room and family and accessible options for those who need them. The restaurant and bar are a focal point, serving breakfast, packed lunches and a full menu including fish and chips and a Sunday roast, all at reasonable prices, though the kitchen's consistency can vary from visit to visit. Staff are attentive, and there's a games room for guests looking to unwind indoors.
Beyond the hotel, guests are within reach of restaurants, pubs and entertainment nearby, as well as golf and fishing further afield. Free on-site parking and free WiFi are included, and laundry service and luggage storage are on hand for those making the most of a longer stay in Lancashire.

What guests say
Since re-opening they have kept everything that was good about the place and improved where needed. The covered area outside is outstanding and perfect for those days changeable days that are typical for the UK. Had dinner and the Lamb Henry was excellent the rest of my family thoroughly enjoyed their meals too. We usually arrive by boat and staying over right outside was not an issue with noise etc.

Stayed here last night, when we arrived you could tell it was a very popular place, it was very busy but the staff were absolutely fantastic and very friendly we didn't have to wait long for service at all at the bar. We waited till later on to order food but that was only due to us wanting to eat later on and it was definitely worth it. Honestly couldn't say a bad thing about this place

Went this afternoon with my family and friends after my v son's graduation at Lancaster university. What a great find, picture perfect location, helpful and attentive staff. We had a really nice time, the food was very good (said all). And being able to have a little stroll along the canal after our meal before heading back down the M6👍🏻 Thanks

Excellent to hear this place was bought when closing down earlier in 2026 by Bowland Brewery. Excellent real ale with a lot of it brewed by themselves in Clitheroe. Food tasty. Excellent outside area for drinking and eating by the canalside. Accessible by using Stagecoach 40/41 from Preston and Lancaster. Pleasant, helpful, efficient staff.
