About Mynydd Mawr Camping Site
Perched at the very tip of the Llŷn Peninsula, Mynydd Mawr Camping Site rewards those who make the journey with spectacular views over the sea towards Bardsey Island and the surrounding mountain landscapes. This family-run site is wonderfully remote and peaceful, making it ideal for slowing down and soaking up the scenery – particularly at sunset, when you can light a campfire or barbecue (in an off-ground container) and watch the sky change colour.
The spotless facilities include modern shower blocks, a chemical disposal point, a freezer for ice packs and a washing-up area that doubles as a local information point. The on-site café serves breakfasts, light lunches and a tempting spread of homemade cakes – essential fuel after tackling the Wales Coast Path, which runs right alongside the site.
From here it's an easy walk to Porthor's Whistling Sands or the village of Aberdaron (a 10-minute drive if you prefer), where you'll find pubs, shops, cafés and a lovely sandy beach.

What visitors say
The site is lovely, spacious and clean. The people running it are very kind and friendly and the facilities are clean and modern. My only issue is the showers, I knew beforehand it was £1 for 5 minutes which is fine. However you can't change the temperature and have to press the on button every 10 seconds. I have very long and thick hair which meant it took twice as long to wash since I had to press the button every 10 seconds to restart the shower. I don't mind paying for a shower but I think if you are it should run continuously.

Camped here for 3 nights in July. Lovely remote location, with great walks from and around the campsite. Well maintained facilities, and a freezer available for ice blocks. Showers required 50p coins for the metered hot water when we were there - the owner had some to exchange, but best to check ahead of time and take some with you if required. The coastal location can be breezy, but pitching next to the hedge helps, and not all areas are flat. We had a great trip - recommended!
