The Gateway Ice Rink

I chose this Ice ring because of easy access by bus (car broke down) and was not disappointed. It's built by lake 6 the staff were friendly, the ice skates fitted well, there a entrance with benches to put on skates and separate exit off ice ring to take off skates. The ring it's self is medium size and was fun. Apart from couple of wild broncos people were skating in reasonable way. The music added to atmosphere for 45 min session which could be booked on line including skating aid for learners at extra cost. The price was reasonable and cheaper at less popular times. Would thoroughly recommend. After skating we enjoyed meal next door in cafe there is also a bar and pizza outlet. Over all enjoyable and over crowded. Good site away from Cirencester but not too far.

Amazing venue, very christmassy and such a nice setup! Staff were all very friendly and it was super easy to book online. Skate hire also available if needed, Rob was very helpful! and the food stalls & cafe are absolutely delicious (especially the pizza and the crepes)! Highly recommend for a family day of fun!❄️⛸️🎄

I took my family with me to go iceskating on Christmas Eve 2024. Unfortunately, my eldest daughter, who I had to buy an additional adult ticket for (on top of the family ticket for me, my partner and my younger two children), had a terrible experience. Firstly, she was given ice skates that did not fit her despite being her correct size so she spent a while trying to get them on. She was then issued with replacement ice skates half a size smaller and came onto the ice rink for about 10 minutes, but then left in great pain – I left the ice rink to see her, and she was very upset and said that she didn’t want to continue iceskating. I asked her why and she showed me the skates were digging into the area where her legs met her feet. She left the rink completely 20 minutes into the session and sat in the car while the rest of the family finished our skating. I spoke to the Gateway Ice Rink attendant James and he said that Gateway would refund me for my daughter’s ticket as he didn’t feel we should be charged when the skates hurt her so much. This was meant to be a happy family Christmas Eve event, but it was soured by what happened to my eldest daughter. Based on what happened, and what James advised, I emailed Gateway Ice Rink but never got a response. This recent Christmas, 2025, I took my family to the nearby Link Centre in Swindon - the boots fitted better, the ice rink was bigger, the ice surface was clearer and easier to skate on, plus the staff were attentive. A much better experience.

Loved Gateway Ice Rink! The rink is huge, so you’re not bumping into people all the time, which is a win. There’s loads of food and drinks to choose from, the bratwursts were sooo good! Such a fun vibe, perfect for a day out!
