About Crowne Plaza Reading

A sizeable modern block of six floors, Crowne Plaza Reading is built for both business trips and weekend stays, with 174 rooms set back from the centre of Reading on Wharfedale Road. The scale of the place means it can offer proper extras: an indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room, a well-equipped gym, and meeting rooms alongside the more usual hotel comforts.

Rooms are air-conditioned and en-suite, with family and accessible options available, and guests consistently find them comfortable and well kept. The restaurant serves a mix of Indian and classic dishes, there's a bar for drinks in the evening, and room service, packed lunches and kids' meals are all on offer. Staff are noted for being helpful and professional throughout. Spa treatments are available too, though these have had a more mixed response than the rest of the facilities.

Free on-site parking makes it an easy base for driving into Reading or further afield, and the surrounding area has golf, fishing and watersports nearby, plus pubs and restaurants within reach. Pets are welcome, and the garden and outdoor seating add a bit of space to unwind after a day out or a day of meetings.

We recently stayed at this hotel for my partner’s birthday and had a really lovely experience overall. The hotel very kindly upgraded us to a suite and even brought up a Happy Birthday treat, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the trip feel extra special. The standout for us was the Indian food – it was absolutely exceptional and honestly some of the best we’ve had. We would happily return just for the food alone! The spa was also very nice and relaxing. The treatments were great, especially the hot stone massage with Kerry, which was fantastic. The spa area could benefit from a bit more seating, and a hot tub would be a great addition. The steam room was also not very powerful during our visit. All of the staff we encountered were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful, which really added to the experience. The only downside was that drinks, particularly soft drinks, felt quite expensive. Overall we had a really enjoyable stay and would definitely visit again – especially for that amazing Indian food!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Our room (305) was clean, comfortable, and cosy, and the hotel itself smelled fresh and spotless as soon as you walked through the doors. We had a particularly great experience with the manager, Keran, who was very kind, welcoming, and made us feel at home from check-in. Their excellent customer service really made our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would definitely return in the future. Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well I came here with my granddaughter who had a spa day. I sat in the lounge and relaxed. The staff are wonderful, helpful and very friendly. I had coffee in the lounge and then lunch in the large and spacious restaurant. The food was very good and the range of offerings is impressive. It includes a full Indian set menu, can say I had a starter and a curry and it was lovely, my granddaughter had a Greek salad to start (this was enormous) and fish and chips all served well and the staff were very attentive but not in your face. All in all I would recommend this hotel, oh by the way the spa was great.

I came here for a spa day. 6 hours complimentary free parking with spa days. All the staff were welcoming, kind and helpful. I commend them all on their service. The spa/leisure area had a swmming pool, steam room and sauna. The steam room was small but cozy. The sauna was bigger but the lower benches needed repair. There were plenty of deck chairs to lounge in. The spa treatments were great. I had a hot stone massage - 10/10 would recommend.
