Benchwood House

The High Weald around Guestling offers countryside walks, medieval Rye just down the road, and some of the darkest skies in South East England. Benchwood House sits within this landscape—a converted stable block with two bedrooms and a bathroom spread across ground and first floors. The ground floor is open plan, with a living area centred around a woodburner, dining space, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking: electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, and the rest. Upstairs are a super kingsize and a kingsize bedroom.

Outside, the grounds include a firepit, summerhouse, seating areas and a barbecue. There's private parking for one car. Essentials like heating, electricity, wi-fi and bed linen are provided, along with wood for the burner. The property is no-smoking and not suitable for children under 8, as there is an unfenced pond in the grounds.

Hastings is a short drive away with its castle and Old Town; Rye Harbour Nature Reserve attracts birdwatchers; and the village itself has roots in the Domesday Book. This is quieter terrain than the coast proper, though the sea is within reach.
